Progress

So here's the update. After 11 hours I have both sleeves fully finished and the torso of the jacket on its way to being done. I would have had it done except I accidentally sewed the lining in backwards and didn't realize till I had it completely sewn so I had to undo the stitch and after about an hour my wrist started hurting so I decided to call it a night. I also started the sash for him. Since I don't have to much more to report here are some pictures!

 This is the first sleeve I got done. I fixed the lining so that it was a pale green instead of a white. I did this after finally finding a good color reference for Bolin.

 Both sleeves done and ready to be attached to the rest. The second gave me a bit of problems when I changed the color of the lining.

 So this is the front of the jacket without any of the decor. I will add the decor pretty soon. This is not attached to the lining.

 And this would be the back. Still with nothing attached.

And this is Bolin himself! Ain't he handsome.

Legend of Korra and Me!

To start off let me say: Hi! My name is Hollie. I've been an anime nerd since my Johny-Ojisan introduced it to me 15 years ago with Sailor Moon. I have been making cosplays since.... Well let me be honest... I made three rushed cosplays last year for the AFO con in Orlando, Fl and they weren't the best but they didn't suck either. Now I am working on 4 LoK cosplays for this years AFO. And so far there is already a big difference! I'm not going to go on and on about how I'm so naturally talented or born to be a anime nerd, because fact is I'm neither. I love anime and am one of the biggest nerds in my group (next to my friends Jessica and Fuzzy) and I have been going to cons for about 9 or so years now, but if it wasn't for my Johny-Ojisan I would have never even tried to get into it. As for being naturally talented. I'm not. Far from it. It took my five years to learn how to draw human anatomy and I was taught to sew years ago (which the end product was nice but I did little of the work).

Now on to LoK. I am in love with this show and have become obsessed. Even my background is a picture of Mako and Korra when they fell asleep together waiting for that equalist to show up. So as soon as I thought of it I begged my love to cosplay them. And got my best guy friend (who hadn't even watched LoK until this) to be Bolin. And now my sister-in-law is going to go as a human form Pabu. I am making each cosplay by hand. Pabu's will be the hardest seeming I have nothing but a drawing I did to go by. So yesterday (at 9 pm) me and Fuzzy started Bolin's outfit. We finished cutting out and pinning together the lining about 1:30 this morning.

Later today he is coming back to learn to sew and to start the main part of the Jacket. So expect an update later tonight or tomorrow morning.

After Bolin we are going to be working on Mako, then Pabu, and finally Korra. The reason we are waiting to do Korra last is because of her sash needing to be made out of vinyl. It will be most expensive and take the most amount of concentration. Anyways... That is all for now. Post more later.
